On select Thursdays, the ABQ Art and History Museum will be offering free admission. These Thursdays include talks and special events. There is no charge from 5pm and the hours of the museum are extended to 830pm. The next special event is this Thursday which includes a chocolate artisan and historian.
The Albuquerque Museum of Art and History offers free evening admission on select Thursdays (usually the third Thursday of each month), with talks and special events on those evenings.
On the Albuquerque Museum free Thursday evening there is no charge for admission from 5 pm and hours are extended until 8:30 pm.
The next free museum evening is this Thursday June 21, 2012, and they had me when they mentioned “sample chocolate”. The theme is Ancient Americas Family Night, with the aforementioned chocolate samples and the chance to hear about chocolate from Mark Sciscenti, a chocolate artisan and historian. (Some people get all the good jobs.) Meanwhile, children can make art inspired by the ancients (I assume they’re not talking about Mr Cheap) and at 7:30 pm the Aztec dance group PAZ Ehecatl will perform for all. Sounds sweet, huh? In more ways than one.
Visitors can also grab a snack at the Slate at the Museum cafe and browse the museum gift store.
Admission to the Albuquerque Museum is also free on:
Sundays from 9 am to 1 pm
All day on the first Wednesday of the month
Even on free days and evenings, expect to pay the usual fees for special exhibits.
The regular admission price is:
$4 for adults, or $3 for New Mexico residents with ID.
BUT out-of-state visitors can get the same $3 deal for adults if they buy tickets to Albuquerque Museum online and print them out at home.
$2 for seniors (65+) wherever you hail from
$3 for youngsters aged 13-18
$1 for kids aged 4-12.
Children aged 3 and under go free.

These hot summer nights grab a picnic and enjoy the Summer Nights Concert Series at the Botanic Garden. There are various activities to partake in throughout the concert including magic shows and and model trains.
Summer Nights musical concerts are performed by local and regional
talent in the beautiful setting of the ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden.

Gates open at 6 p.m. Concerts play from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. rain or shine!
Music & More
During the concerts, stroll the grounds, enjoy a magic show, and check out the Garden's model train.
The Heritage Farm is open from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Aquarium also is open during concerts.
The PNM Butterfly Pavilion is not open during the concerts. In addition, the Ritzy Rouge Hula Hoop Troupe will be at the Botanic Garden every Thursday and the Clan Tynker Family Circus will join the fun on June 21 & 28 and July 5, 12, 19 and 26.
Seating
General lawn seating. Bring your own seating - blankets or lawn chairs.
The lawn has a capacity for about 2,000 people.
Food & Drinks
You may purchase food from vendors at the Botanic Garden, or bring your own picnic.
Beer and wine are also available to purchase. You may not bring in your own.

Do you want an office in your apartment, but you have no separate room for it? Do not fear, here are seven ways you can bring an office into your living space using the rooms you already have!
Spreading bills out on the coffee table will only work for so long.
Eventually, you may need to find a spot in your living room for a proper
desk. Here are some location options to get your gears turning and
inspire you to fit a real desk into your living room.
In a Side Table
Group your office
supplies into organizing boxes (as shown above) and stash them into a
shelving unit by the sofa to use as a side table. Keep at least a little
space on the table clear to work on.
In Part of a Bookcase
Use a bookcase unit
with adjustable shleves to configure a small workspace that packs a
punch with storage. For extra credit, hide your office away behind
curtains or a panel on rails.
Behind the Sofa
Tuck a long, narrow table
behind your sofa for a place to keep your laptop and sort through
paperwork. A chair or stool that can tuck completely under the desk will
maximize your available space.
Behind a Partition
Use a screen, shutters or a curtain to keep your desk hidden from the rest of your living area.
Under the Stairs
That awkward area underneath an open staircase is a great spot for a small workspace and a few shelves.
Inside an Armoire
Take a hutch or armoire
and customize it to your workflow for a home office that you can shut
down at the end of the day. Or, find a secretary desk that's already in
perfect working order for your workspace.
Inside a Closet
A storage closet, linen
closet or even a small coat closet can be turned into a workroom by
finding a desk and shelves that fit the space. Leave closet doors on or
off, depending on how much you want to be able to hide your office away.

Sunday evenings are free concerts for families all summer long. The concerts are from 6-830 in the Rotary Club Barbeque Pavilion in Haynes Park. There are some great acts lined up so get a picnic basket together and enjoy the free music.
Rio Rancho starts its summer series of free Sunday evening music concerts on May 27 - so plan ahead because they’ve some great acts in the line-up.
Rustle up a picnic and take blankets, lawn chairs or whatever other
seating arrangement suits you (probably leave the La-Z-Boy at home) to
the free Rio Rancho summer music concerts. They’re all on Sunday evenings from May 27 through August 2012 and they all run from 6:30 -8 pm at the Rotary Club Barbeque Pavilion in Haynes Park.
The kids can do their thing on the free fun jumps while you chill out
listening to a nice mix of familiar and new performers. The Haynes Park music schedule at time of writing starts with:
- May 27: The Casuals
- June 3: Gary Reynolds & The Southwest Band
- June 10: Adobe Brothers
- June 17: Bosque Blues
- June 24: The Flyin A’s
On June 10, the Arts at Haynes Park show also takes place from 3-8pm, so
you can browse jewelry, glass, paintings, clothes, photography,
sculpture and other New Mexican artisan pieces before and during The
Adobe Brothers’ performance.
And did we mention that the live entertainment and the Arts at Haynes Park event are all free?
Shows are of course weather-permitting, at Haynes Park, 2006 Grande Boulevard, Rio Rancho, opposite Intel.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, right? So $10 of
prevention should save you forever. This inexpensive solution to spills
and grime inside your hardest-to-clean kitchen appliance — the
refrigerator — is guaranteed to save you from a lifetime of scrubbing.
Not only is cleaning refrigerator shelves on your hands and knees a
pain, but it's a money-waster and unsafe, too. Cleaning your fridge with
the door open can waste tons of energy and puts the food safety of your
fridge contents at risk.
To avoid it — forever — just take a crisp Hamilton down to the
grocery store and grab a roll of super-sticky press and seal plastic
wrap, like The Virtous Wife recently did on her blog:
Press and seal wrap is different from most regular cling wrap because it's super-sticky on one side (Glad
makes one variety, but you might be able to find a generic version at
your local store). This makes it great for sticking down to refrigerator
shleves like you would with a drawer liner in your dresser.
So the next time you find a spill or leak in your fridge, just clear
the shelf and lift off the layer of plastic wrap. Voila! Clean fridge
all over again in an instant. Just remember to re-stick another layer of
press and seal wrap before you put everything back in its place.

Just because you don't own it in title doesn't mean you can't own it in spirit. HGTV's got some great tips for making your apartment feel like home by giving it unique touches all your own to make it a distinctive domicile.

Don't Be Chicken—Don't be reluctant about asking the landlord what you can and can't do with the space - you might be surprised. Most are fine with painting, hanging wall decorations and replacing existing window treatments and light fixtures, as long as you return the apartment to its original state when you move. A little paint, throughout the whole apartment or just on one wall, can make a world of difference in terms of how you feel about your space.
Don't Ignore Lighting—Lighting is an inexpensive way to decorate and instantly improve the atmosphere of a rented space. First things first: Change out that hideous overhead light fixture that casts a stark, unattractive light on everything. In its place, put up a chandelier or any fixture that expresses your own style. Dimmer lights are great for controlling the ambience, and canister lamps placed on the floors wash light up the walls.
Don't Resign Yourself to Rectangles—Many apartments are large rectangles where dining- and living-room spaces are in a line, creating a bowling-alley look. To cure this malady, divide each space into boxes based on functionality into boxes. A large plant, large artwork, a bookcase or a curio can be used to divide the space into halves. Curves can also take the edges off a boxy room. Think round tables, chairs and other furnishings.
